Clapped-out old cars, ragged arse suitcases, broken dollars, ripped-up old dresses, fallen prayers, dirty wings, lonely roads, long-tongued lies, sticks and stones and bags of bones, stone angels and dreams, air thick with love, kisses on the breeze, diamonds in the sun - Yearlings songs are populated by all of the above and more. Yearlings songs are heartfelt and precious things. "Timeless,charming, irresistible, honest, fluid, sentimental, sweet, austere, intimate, unpretentious, uplifting, melancholic, touching, poetic, beautiful..." - these are some ot the adjectives which other reviewers have used to describe them, and I'm not about to argue. Adelaide couple Robyn Chalklen and Chris Parkinson join the ranks of the great duos of country/folk/acoustic music with this album - Robyn's beautifully ethereal and mysterious songs the perfect counterpoint to Chris's earthy and warm compositions, both artists in total understanding of, and in harmony with, each other.
